South Ural State Medical University is a large higher education institution under federal authority, one of the leading medical universities of the Russian Federation with a powerful system of profound and clinical medical education.
South Ural State Medical University was founded in 1944 in the city of Chelyabinsk and has trained more than 30 000 highly qualified graduates. We have 6 faculties (Medical faculty, Pediatric faculty, Faculty of Social work, higher nursing education and management, Dentistry faculty, Disease Prevention faculty, Pharmaceutical faculty). We prepare students according to the programs of specialty, postgraduate studies, and residency.
The most important direction of the educational policy of university is to improve the practical training of students, which can be easily implemented on the basis of our own multy-functional clinic. Much attention is paid to the development and application of practical skills in simulated conditions, for which the university has high-tech sites equipped with modern robotic mannequins and realistic phantoms.
Along with high quality training of specialists, the most important priority of the university is science. The university has Research and Educational centers, Immunology Research Institute, a Central Research laboratory, an Experimental biological clinic, on the basis of which students are actively engaged in science under the guidance of the Student Scientific Society.

This page contains information on application and admission to the English-medium programs for the academic year 2022/2023. Please note, application and admission dates for the next academic years may differ and will be officially announced and placed on this webpage.
Please be informed that according to its License, the University is bound to provide the medical education in Russian language only. For students who wish to study Medicine in English medium, education will be provided in English language.
THE PERIOD OF ADMISSION IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2022/2023
June, 20, 2022 – start accepting documents for admission
September, 15, 2022 – the deadline for accepting documents for admission
September, 21, 2022 – the deadline for entrance exams for foreign citizens with the use of an intermediary language (English).
STEPS OF APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION
- Step 1. Provide an application form and required documents.
You have to fulfilapplication formand prepare and send the following documents:
- copy of the international passport (the pages with the photo, date of expiration and place of birth etc.); your passport should be valid for at least 2.5 years from the date of application.
- document confirming your previous level of education (school certificate)
- certificate of recognition of education (if necessary!)
NOTE! All the copies should have notarized translation into Russian!
All documents issued outside Russia must be legalized prior to submission in accordance with the law of the Russian Federation: undergo consular legalization (in the Consulate of the Russian Federation in the country where the document was issued) or bear an Apostille stamp (for documents issued in the countries that are parties to The Hague Convention). Original documents rather than copies should be legalized!
Please note that every country has its own requirements of legalization and recognition of education certificates.
Documents can be provided by 3 ways:

- Step 2. Prepare to come for entry examinations.
•After approval from the admission committee we will send the visa invitation via e-mail. It will take us about 30 days to prepare and send you the Invitation.
•On receiving a visa invitation letter, the applicant must contact the Embassy of the Russian Federation in his / her country in order to apply for a student’s visa.
Attention! Applicants with "tourist visa" are not eligible to study or register at SUSMU!
•Arrive to the Russian Federation not later than a week before the entry examinations! You will need time to follow visa and registration rules!
- Step 3. Pass the entry examinations.
The list of the entry examinations for foreign applicants who wish to study Medicine in English medium:
- Step 4. Sign a contract and pay a tuition fee.
Upon results of the entry examinations, successful applicants will be provided a relevant admission contract to sign and an invoice for payment of the tuition fee.

- Step 5. Become a student of SUSMU and begin your studies!
- Medical insurance and service
The required documents:
•Medical Check-up results (issued by University Hospital)
•Vaccination certificate or documents containing information about your vaccination
•HIV status certificate
•Medical Insurance (with medical repatriation)
The necessity of obtaining these documents is provided by the Study Contract and corresponding laws of the RF Legislation.

- Migration rules for foreign students
According to Federal Law “On Migration Registration of foreign citizens and stateless persons in the RF” the following visa and migration registration procedure is introduces for foreign citizens and stateless persons who came to study at SUSMU.
The next day after arrival at SUSMU foreign citizens\stateless persons are supposed to submit to the Passport Department (Chelyabinsk, Blyuhera str., bld. 3, of.116) the following documents for migration registration:
1. international passport and a copy (with the expiry date);
2. visa and a copy;
3. migration card and a copy (with a crossed border note);
4. 2 photos (Зх4 cm).
5. original and copy of the dormitory room rent contract.
*For underage students, a notarized power of attorney from both parents for migration registration.

EDUCATION
According to Federal Law “Concerning Education in the Russian Federation” No 273-FL d/d 29.12.2012 there are realized the following levels of professional education in SUSMU:
One of the most important direction of the educational policy of university is to improve the practical training of students, which can be easily implemented on the basis of our own Multidisciplinary accreditation and simulation center. Much attention is paid to the development and application of practical skills in simulated conditions. Our university training center has high-tech sites equipped with modern robotic mannequins and realistic phantoms.
Main goals of the Multidisciplinary accreditation and simulation center
1.Implementation of measures of the priority national project "health", aimed at improving the level of theoretical knowledge and improving manual skills of medical workers in maternity and childhood institutions.
2.Introduction of new training and professional development programs for medical personnel in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, neonatology, and Pediatrics.
3.Improving the performance of obstetric and pediatric medical institutions.
The multidisciplinary accreditation and simulation center :
Training rooms, simulation rooms, examination rooms: maternity ward, neonatal intensive care unit, endoscopic operating room, teaching and technical staff office.

LIFE
South Ural State Medical University has five dormitories with a total of 2,246 beds.
For the duration of the preparatory courses and entrance tests, nonresident applicants are provided with a hostel.
When checking in to the hostel, you must have:

Our hostels are occupied with all the necessary equipment, all rooms are designed for 2-3 people, kitchen, laundry are located on each floor.
